Portland post-punk 3-piece The Estranged is back for their 3rd album with me at Type Foundry. We started 4 days of tracking today. After basic tracking they’ll take the tracks over to Maus at Red Lantern Studio for overdubs, and then back to me in October for mixing.

This year is my second working for Pickathon, in my humble opinion, the best music festival out there (and I’ve been to a lot of them). Located on just outside Portland (biking distance) on 70 acres of farmland with a stunning view of Mt. Hood, Pickathon is known for its varied musical selection, low-key atmosphere and focus on sustainability. Last year I worked with my friends Nalin Silva (live and recording engineer extraordinaire, organizational genius and  co-owner of Revolver Studios), and Si Abrams (live sound queen) doing live mixing for internet broadcast for one of the stages at the festival. This year Nalin and I are organizing and staffing the live mix for broadcast and multi-track recording part of the festival. I’m anticipating a busy, fun and amazing 5 days camping and working there.
